Hamline University seeks a dynamic, highly motivated Associate Dean, Accreditation Coordinator for the School of Education with the leadership skills to develop and support our community-based learning environments serving students within the Twin Cities area, nationally, and throughout the world. Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to community action, a collaborative approach to education, an ability to mentor and advise faculty throughout their careers, and the entrepreneurial spirit and drive required to effectively lead, develop, and support a variety of program areas appropriate to our mission.  

Candidates must have an earned doctorate from an accredited institution and prior experience in higher education. Someone with a deep knowledge of faculty life and academic citizenship (teaching, service, and scholarship) within a dual system (teaching and tenure-track) is preferred.  Also desired is someone with: (a) an interdisciplinary background; (b) a rich understanding of student engagement, retention, and assessment practices related to student learning; (c) prior experience teaching in undergraduate and graduate programs; (d) strong analytical, creative, and critical thinking skills; (e) an understanding of pedagogical applications in conventional, hybrid, and online teaching environments; (f) a commitment to constructivist approaches and critical pedagogy; (g) understanding of accreditation processes, and (h) strong research, assessment, and data management skills. Applicants with knowledge of organizational communication, assessment/accreditation, strategic planning, co-curricular and curricular connections supportive of student learning, budget and enrollment management, and experience mentoring and/or supporting faculty regardless of their background are preferred.

Applicants must hold a record of scholarly activity commensurate with appointment at the level of associate professor and be eligible for tenure or tenure-track within Hamline University and have at least three years of successful administrative/leadership experience in higher education. Also desired is experience building effective campus and community-based partnerships from a multi-disciplinary perspective.
The individual selected for this position will provide critical leadership for ongoing academic affairs at the departmental level, including, but not limited to, the orientation, development, and support for teaching, tenure-track, and adjunct faculty at various stages of their careers, faculty conflict resolution, annual teaching reviews for promotion and tenure, development of unit-level course schedules,  inventories, and systems for tracking both faculty and student performance, and student affairs concerns, such as creating critical support systems for advising and resolving disputes/grade appeals. Responsibilities also include leadership development among chairs and assisting deans and chairs on a daily basis with strategic curricular directions and manifesting innovative, effective, and efficient approaches to academic and student affairs.
The person entering this position must be able to handle a variety of complexities in an increasingly diverse setting within a highly functioning and high profile environment while responding to the critical needs of students and faculty. Someone who is self-motivated and understands policy development within an ever-evolving environment would be ideally suited for this position.

Including the School of Education, Hamline is known for its excellence in Business, Law, Liberal Studies, and, at the undergraduate level, Liberal Arts. Enrollment in Education programs comprises the preponderance of students on campus.
