Scenic and Lighting Design

Regent University is an accredited Christian university with a commitment to academic excellence, innovation and global influence. The Department of Theatre has over 100 full-time students and offers B.A., M.A. and MFA degree programs.  

Theatre Department is seeking a full-time assistant professor in Scenic and Lighting Design. Requirements: a terminal degree in Theatre with a design emphasis and a minimum of three years teaching experience at the university level. Professional design experience and union memberships are highly valued. Candidate must also possess ability to effectively serve as department’s Production Manager.

Production responsibilities: Scenic design for all departmental productions, lighting design for select productions, organization of running crews, season scheduling, and supervision of full-time Technical Director. Teaching responsibilities: include undergraduate and graduate level courses in scenic and lighting design with possible assignments in text analysis, theatre history or other areas of expertise. Student advisement and participation on School committees, including master’s thesis projects, also required.  

Position is effective fall 2011 and salary is negotiable.  Women and minority candidates are encouraged to apply.
