Description & Requirement

The Assistant Dean for Administration works with the Dean of the School of Undergraduate Studies (SUS) and the SUS Assistant Deans in the areas of budget management, human resources administration, and operations support.  This position serves as liaison between the University Office of Budget and Financial Analysis, Academic Affairs units, and Human Resources.   This position reports to the Vice Provost and Dean, School of Undergraduate Studies.  The Assistant Dean for Administration prepares various budget reports and forecasts; reviews, approves, and reconciles departmental purchasing card transactions; verifies accuracy and completeness of human resources action forms prior to final submission; provides instruction and answers questions relating to budget and HR procedures; generates statistical reports concerning other aspects of SUS academic affairs operations. Specific responsibilities include:

1.        Serves as the liaison between the Office of Budget and Financial Analysis, Academic Affairs units, and Human Resources;
2.        Provides instruction and answers questions relating to budget and HR procedures;
3.        Coordinates with the Logistics and Support Academic Unit on matters pertaining to proctored exams, textbooks, adjunct faculty appointments and other faculty services;
4.        Generates statistical reports concerning other aspects of Academic Affairs units;
5.        Reviews, approves, and reconciles departmental purchasing card transactions; and
6.        Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

This position requires a master's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field and a minimum of four years of related experience (Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree preferred).  Qualified candidates will have extensive knowledge of budget formulations and projections; proficiency in the use of software applications, databases, spreadsheets, and/or word processing tools; ability to routinely exercise administrative judgment; capacity to establish and maintain effective team relationships with constituents worldwide; capacity to work on multiple projects simultaneously; and strong oral and written communication skills.  Position is available effective July 1, 2009.  Salary is commensurate with experience.  Continuous Recruitment until filled
