General Description of the Job
Delaware State University's College of Agriculture and Related Sciences has an opening for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Applied Agricultural Science.  This position will be a 12-month (75% teaching and 25% research) position.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The individual in this job must possess these skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other  combination of skills and abilities.
1. Teaching experience  at the college/university level
2. Ability to work successfully with diverse students and faculty
3. Effective written and verbal communication skills

Essential Functions
The following are the functions essential to performing this job
1. Teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate and graduate levels would include courses such as Forage Crop Production, Weed Science, Farm Machinery, Plant Propagation and Greenhouse Management and Marketing Agricultural products.
2. Mentor and advise undergraduate students.
3. Communicate effectively with faculty, students.  DSU Administrators and professional and outside commodity groups.
4. Actively engage in research, serve on academic committees, and seek extramural grant funding.
5. Research should be concentrated in the areas of plant science and holistic production systems with an emphasis on horticulture and sustainable agriculture.
6. The ability to work in a collaborative interdisciplinary environment is essential.
Qualification Standards
1, Earned Doctorate degree in Agricultural Science or a related field with demonstrated expertise in applied agriculture.
2. Post doctoral experience is desired.
