Description & Requirement Creating Hispanic Scientists, a newly-funded initiative at John Jay College of the City University of New York, is looking for an Advisement Materials Writer to help create materials for the academic advisement of undergraduate science students. This person will assist the Project Staff in identifying topic areas, collecting information, and writing advisement modules targeted toward community college and transfer students.
Responsibilities:
• Work with project team to identify module topic areas relevant to undergraduate advisement
• Participate in focus group discussions with students and other key stakeholders
• Identify and gather information currently available to target audience
• Write advisement modules for target audience
Requirements:
• Communicate effectively in written and oral form
• Establish and maintain professional credibility
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills
• Keen attention to detail
The position is a part time (~15 hours per week) contractual commitment at a rate of $20-$25 per hour. Though contractual, the position requires significant time onsite at John Jay College. Preference will be given to individuals with experience in writing for an educational audience; familiarity with academic advising tools and processes and experience writing for Non-Native English Speakers is a plus.
