Description & Requirement Founded in 1947, University of Maryland University College (UMUC) is an accredited institution dedicated to providing working adults, military personnel, and students worldwide with the opportunity to achieve their academic goals through online instruction, accelerated academic programs, and classroom-based courses taught during the daytime, evenings, and weekends. We are currently seeking candidates to fill the Academic Program Specialist within the Office of Student Affairs.
The Academic Program Specialist will report to the Director of Disability Services and will provide administrative support to the Director and Assistant Director in the Office of Disabled Student Affairs, coordinating provision of services to undergraduate and graduate online and on-site students with disabilities. The Academic Program Specialist will be responsible in the management of disabled student data bases and collection of statistical data; performing administrative and word processing functions; maintaining confidential student files and records; assisting in coordinating accommodations for students (e.g., textbook scanning and recording); scheduling and proctoring examinations; performing other job-related duties as assigned. Requires a BA/BS degree and 1 year of experience working with individuals with disabilities.
Preferred candidates will have 2 years of related experience in rehabilitation, counseling, social work or other related field as well the ability to trouble-shoot and research information regarding processes and procedures related to students with disabilities. In additional, qualified candidates will have excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; demonstrated ability in problem-solving and trouble-shooting issues; be capable of prioritizing and managing multiple administrative tasks; and capable of working collaboratively in a group and/or independently.
